A powerful and enraging piece. My wife reported a conversation the
other day with a colleague. "So," she was asked "are you eager to get
back down to the US?"
"No"
"Why not?"
She explained that both of us are well to the left of Obama, and the
woman was astounded, uncomprehending. I'd say we're on the more
progressive end of the liberal spectrum, hardly radical or
revolutionary. The center-right Obama hardly represents the interests
of his core followers, or even the American people in general, who by
and large are sick of war, priviledge, corruption and exploitation.
Here in Canada they think he's Carl Marx's brain in Denzel
Washington's body. They are as propagandized as people in the states,
maybe more so, since there is a much higher media concentration in
fewer hands here (I'll bet you didn't think that was possible).
