Sensitive Documentary, 31 August 1999

For a film as old as Nanook of the North, it might be expected that
some cultural imperialism would seep into such an anthropological
venture. Amazingly, this is hardly the case. The lives of a band of
hardy eskimos are shown with little added or taken away. We see them
fighting for food, playing, building shelters, and cowering in the
dark winter. All of these elements are shown without undue
sentimentality. We are amazed at the lives we see because they are so
different from our own, yet we realize just how human they are when
they smile at us and engage us. The sequence where the igloo is built
is truly remarkable, as are many of the hunting expeditions. However,
just when we start to think that the life we are seeing may be perfect
in its purity, we are shown the other side of eskimo life. The bleak
ending of the film forces the viewer to come to terms with his
romanticized view of eskimos that the first part of the film creates.
A great film experience.

[CanYoAssDigIt] Poor Jessica!

I saw on the NEWS yesterday that Jessica Simpleton I mean Simpson burst into tears after she fricked up the song "9 to 5" at a Dolly Parton tribute show.

Poor Jessica!  Poor America! A sad day indeed.

BREAKING NEWS: BOLTON RESIGNS

Bush Man At UN Resigns
Updated: 14:46, Monday December 04, 2006

John Bolton, President Bush's controversial appointment as US ambassador to the United Nations, has resigned.

His position had been under threat since the Democrats took control of Congress in the US midterm elections.

Mr Bush had braved political opposition to give him him the job temporarily in August last year.

His confirmation has been languishing in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee ever since.

The no-nonsense Bush ally was opposed by Democrats and some Republicans.

The White House has now announced that Mr Bolton would leave office in a matter of days.

Spokeswoman Dana Perino said Mr Bush had reluctantly accepted Mr Bolton's decision to leave the UN post when the current session of the US Congress ends, probably at the end of the week.

Sky correspondent Andrew Wilson said that independent Senator Dan [?] Lieberman was a possible replacement. The former Democrat could be an acceptable compromise candidate.

More follows ...

[CanYoAssDigIt] I know how people on this list like to chat up any time a librarian is mentioned in the mundane world...

But I don't recollect anybody talking about a series of TV movies
called "The Librarian...."

One is on now. I'm really impressed. Impressed with how old Bob
Newhart looks, and how far he has travelled down the celebrity food
chain to appear in something like this....

Yes, Marta

Great to hear from you, though I'm not really surprised. I've always been irresistable to beautiful women like you, so I knew it was just a matter of time before you or somebody like you tracked me down.

Would you like to view my webcam?  It's an expreience.  You remember Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars?  Imagine him dripping with sensual oil, and that pretty much fills you in on what you are in for.

Looking forward to hot cybersex with you,

Matt

[CanYoAssDigIt] Re: [progressive] Study shows Bush supporters are Mentally Ill

"For his part, Lohse is a self-described 'Reagan revolution fanatic'"... so the guy who wrote the study is crazy, too... what are we to believe?

Bush Nuts - Are George W. Bush lovers certifiable?

A collective "I told you so" will ripple through the world of Bush-bashers once news of Christopher Lohse's study gets out.

Lohse, a social work master's student at Southern Connecticut State University, says he has proven what many progressives have probably suspected for years: a direct link between mental illness and support for President Bush.

Lohse says his study is no joke. The thesis draws on a survey of 69 psychiatric outpatients in three Connecticut locations during the 2004 presidential election. Lohse's study, backed by SCSU Psychology professor Jaak Rakfeldt and statistician Misty Ginacola, found a correlation between the severity of a person's psychosis and their preferences for president: The more psychotic the voter, the more likely they were to vote for Bush.

But before you go thinking all your conservative friends are psychotic, listen to Lohse's explanation.

"Our study shows that psychotic patients prefer an authoritative leader," Lohse says. "If your world is very mixed up, there's something very comforting about someone telling you, 'This is how it's going to be.'"

The study was an advocacy project of sorts, designed to register mentally ill voters and encourage them to go to the polls, Lohse explains. The Bush trend was revealed later on.

The study used Modified General Assessment Functioning, or MGAF, a 100-point scale that measures the functioning of disabled patients. A second scale, developed by Rakfeldt, was also used. Knowledge of current issues, government and politics were assessed on a 12-item scale devised by the study authors.

"Bush supporters had significantly less knowledge about current issues, government and politics than those who supported Kerry," the study says.

Lohse says the trend isn't unique to Bush: A 1977 study by Frumkin & Ibrahim found psychiatric patients preferred Nixon over McGovern in the 1972 election.

Rakfeldt says the study was legitimate, though not intended to show what it did.

"Yes it was a legitimate study but these data were mined after the fact," Rakfeldt says. "You can ask new questions of the data. I haven't looked at" Lohse's conclusions regarding Bush, Rakfeldt says.

"That doesn't make it illegitimate, it just wasn't part of the original project."

For his part, Lohse is a self-described "Reagan revolution fanatic" but said that W. is just "beyond the pale."

[CanYoAssDigIt] News: borat is a bad person

he broke up pamela anderson's marriage.

I know it's true because it said so on the news.

Kid Rock was totally upset that borat turned pamela anderson into a sex object.

I saw this guy say it on the news, so it's totally true.

I remember what it was like before borat turned pam into a sex object.

it was so wrong of him to do that.

meanwhile, non-news continues to happen, and not be reported on TV news:

Judge Rules Part of Bush Anti-Terror Order Unconstitutional
A federal judge in Los Angeles, who previously struck down sections of
the Patriot Act, has ruled that provisions of an anti-terrorism order
issued by President George W. Bush after September 11 are
unconstitutional.

U.S. District Judge Audrey Collins found that part of the law, signed
by Bush on September 23, 2001 and used to freeze the assets of
terrorist organizations, violated the Constitution because it put no
apparent limit on the president's powers to place groups on that list.

Ruling in a lawsuit brought against the Treasury Department in 2005 by
the Center for Constitutional Rights, Collins also threw out a portion
of Bush's order which applied the law to those who associate with the
designated organizations.

"This law gave the president unfettered authority to create
blacklists, an authority president Bush then used to empower the
Secretary of the Treasury to impose guilt by association," said David
Cole of the Washington-based Center for Constitutional Rights. More

Scary movie.

My review:

Anybody who is scared of the Democrats after 6 years of Bushit has some serious problems

I posted this comment You don't need to cut and paste to make the republicans plans from the bowels of hell (Dubya's ass) hilarious and terrifying. They are that way coming out of the filthy gobs of those pirates and thugs. Congratulations for all your hard work, but the Dubya stuff here at YouTube is way funnier.

[CanYoAssDigIt] Re: [SECULARHUMANIST] *? 2 ALL: THINK YOU'LL GET WHAT YOU WANT FOR CHRISTMAS?*

Well, if we create our own reality, i guess there are no worries about 655,000 Iraqis dead and counting. They wanted it that way, I guess.

I didn't, but my desire for freedom and dignity were over-powered by the desires of the Thanatos-loving Iraqis (and the philisophical imperative of B F Skinner).

Because I didn't love the Democrats enough, we had 8 years of Bush... homeland security, death and destruction in New Orleans... but that's OK, they wished that Hurricane on themselves with more power than I wished it back out to sea.

If you think I'm running this voodoo down, you're right.
