People didn't throw Bush out of office by electing Obama, he was on his way out anyway. They voted for Obama to prevent the despicable John McCain from taking office, though it's difficult to say how he could have been any more despicable than Obama has been, and at least he would have had some opposition from the left. Bush wasn't the worst president since Herbert Hoover, he was the worst president since Calvin Coolidge. Obama is the worst president since Herbert Hoover. It's irresponsible to say the Dems have been "played by the ever-growing fascistic and totalitarian elements in the Republican Party" – the great majority of Democratic office holders love a good fascism as much as Republicans, and that is what the rank and file needs to wake up to. And on the environment, it's one step forward, two steps back with Obama – he couldn't even wait for the dust to settle on the keystone triumph before he reversed himself (by saying the southern half is going forward, maybe he thought we'd only think he's half a jerk, but we'd need to be half as smart as we are to be hoodwinked by this ploy), apparently secure that he's the moneyed interests favored one, and that the rest of us don't have any choice and will just take it, and like it. There seems to be a news blackout on the fact that Obama actually has primary opposition – from awful candidates like Randall Terry to good ones like Darcy Richardson. Obama got just over 50% of the vote in Oklahoma. Disagree. It would only give people something more to fight over, to try to take over and then drive everybody else out, like what Israel is doing in Jerusalem.

Greenwich seems quite neutral to me, devoid of historical or religious significance, and therefore a good choice. If it's tooredolent of British imperialism, then how about Reykjavik, Iceland, or São Paulo, Brazil?  I'd recommend moving the United Nations to one of those cities, as well.

He is the first human being and Nabee. There is no existence of any history and there is no history older than the history of things related to Him. Hazrat Aadam 'Alaihis Salaam first built up the sacred Ka'aba Shareef. If any place is to be selected considering its historic significance, then the first priority will be Baitullah Shareef or Ka'aba Shareef and no places on this earth can be more ancient than this place. So, not the Greenwich rather considering Ka'aba Shareef as the centre, the time regions of the world needed to be fixed.

 The Custodian of the two holy Masjids should take all necessary steps for fixing up the Prime meridian over the Ka'aba Shareef and all the Muslims of the world should come forward on this issue.

I read Daniel Kovalik's article "The Selective Compassion of the Media & Human Rights Establishment" on Counterpunch a couple of days ago, in which he says... "There is little chance you heard about any of this [horrific atrocities he just described]when you picked up your newspaper to read this morning or tuned into NPR.   This is so because these events did not take place in Syria, where the U.S. is ramping up its plans for military intervention to topple the government... Rather, these events took place in Colombia which has received billions of dollars in aid from the U.S. since 2000, and where death squads aligned with the state the U.S. is funding are carrying out most of the atrocities.... Thus, while I listened last week to the NPR reporter (based in Beirut, Lebanon, but purporting to describe events in Syria) passionately speaking on behalf of Syrians who, the reporter claims, see the armed resistance as their "protectors," I did not hear any reporter based in South America weeping for the countless victims of our client state of Colombia...." Ironically, or perhaps not, perhaps "inevitably" is a better word, today, I heard a total fluff piece from NPR's man in Columbia. He could report on the crimes Kovalik discusses, but instead we get "Cruising Over Colombia In A Plane From Another Era... By aviation standards, the DC-3 is antique. But it's perfect for travel in Colombia's remote parts."

One (apparently more regular than me) listener commented "Stories like this are why I listen to and am a member of NPR!!! Just think if all the people that listened to Rush and Glenn and watched faux news, If they tuned into NPR just think of how different things might be!" 

It's stories like this that cause me to avoid NPR and to listen instead to Democracy Now! - if all the people that tune into Faux News tuned into NPR instead, think of how much things would be the same!  Same propaganda, just presented in a bit drowsier fashion. NPR, home of fire-breathing lefties... like Garrison Keillor.

I generally have as much gripe with the liberal regulars there as with the right wing trolls that drop in to stir the pot. American political discourse has gotten so stunted, it's hard to know which catagory the following poster is in:

In a political climate where "moderate" has replaced "liberal" as the new epiphet of choice, it's easy to see somebody who thinks they are left of center getting hysterical over socialism (the topic under discussion is a quote from famous American socialist Helen Keller - who most Americans view as plucky overcomer of adversity, more Little Orphan Annie than incisive social critic).

At any rate, I was able to weigh in on my second attempt - it must be the word "Nazi" (never mind the context) that makes the MoveOn crowd burst into tears. Weird - you can say "Hitler" but don't say "Nazi"!

Once again, I've been censored by the heavy-handed moveon robot censor. Unlike you regulars, I don't know what trigger words to avoid... it appears the "H" word is ok, but the "N" word is not. Let me try again, paraphrasing my intended post.  "Mickey Mouse of course abandoned any pretense at socialism when he threw his lot in with the industrialists (who were more than happy to work with both sides and reap the profits). All the socialists were purged and/or murdered, The Night of the Long Knives was in part about this - purging left wing elements from the Disney Party."
