[ITSALLABOUTMEMAN] Just the facts, ma'am

 

Does anybody ever listen to "1A" on neoliberal propaganda radio? Like in real estate, they name their projects after the things they had to destroy in order to populate it. It is hosted by adult child Joshua Johnson, who would really rather be in a room in the basement playing video games and reading comic books than hosting a boring public affairs program. Perhaps it was his lack of zeal for the neoliberal program that let him slip a great truth (for a change the other day). With some degree of petulance, he announced that a great many listeners disagreed with their coverage of the US attack on democracy in Venezuela because of the US history in.... well just about everywhere all the time. but he concluded, tough luck for us because they were presenting "the facts." This admission that there was so many other people out there that they can't ignore, that he had to get his little jab in (delivered with childish petulance) provided me with great comfort. If you are thoughtful at all, they want you to feel alone. Their job is to try to make you feel that you are mentally ill if you deviate from the party line. I don't think it was a history-making moment, but Johnson delivered a great message to the freedom-loving reality-based community.

This is a ridiculous movie. In what movie would you ever see white people fighting – to the death – to be the leader of their country? Now it would be entertaining to see Trump and Clinton fighting with spears, but it would be understood as farce. In what actual country in Africa do they do this? None, and aren't you glad for this? In what country is dynastic rule a good idea? Exactly none, but I guess there are some people that think Africans aren't capable of self-rule. In what country do they make the killer of a beloved leader the next leader? I don't see John Wilkes Booth or Lee Harvey Oswald in the history books as a US president. Yet in Wakanda not only do they accept this murderous thug as their new leader, a great many of them whole-heartedly embrace him. Kenosha Wisconsin Mayor Eugene Dorff gained brief notoriety for introducing civil rights activist Jesse Jackson to a crowd as a spear chucker. But Marvel has made the military of an entire advanced nation spear chuckers. But it's ok, I guess, because they are electric spears. What is wrong with people?

[ITSALLABOUTMEMAN] First we take Iran... then Venezuela

 

I heard something astonishing on Neoliberal Propaganda Radio the other day. They actually acknowledged that the Iranian revolution was to throw out a dictator that the US had installed. True, they seemed amused by how clever Kermit Roosevelt was in carrying out the coup, smugly condescending towards the Iranians for letting themselves be fooled in the manner they were, and they never reported on the reign of terror the Shah initiated. Another thing they failed to point out; while they were mouthing platitudes about learning from the past, they never mentioned how the same tactics used against Iran are now being rolled out to use against Venezuela.

[ITSALLABOUTMEMAN] The Spy Who Wasn't

 

I said when this story broke that Maria Butina was either the worst spy in the world, or no kind of spy at all. James Bamford, who alerted the world to the existence of the NSA, concludes "no kind of spy at all." Back then I found her mania about gun ownership repellent, but now that I know more about her, I see that she was trying to build people-to-people relationships with Russians just as I am; however, her vehicle of choice is guns, mine is music. [ITSALLABOUTMEMAN] The Siege of Venezuela and the Travails of Empire

 

If you are still on Facebook, but want to leave, may I recommend committing suicide by speaking truth to power? All you have to do is post links to this excellent article (https://www.counterpunch.org/2019/02/15/the-siege-of-venezuela-and-the-travails-of-empire/) or others like it to the 1A site (or any of the other anti-democratic anti-free speech programs on offer from NPR) and suggest they have the author on as a guest. It won't happen overnight, but if you do this a few times, NPR will report you to their good buddies at Facebook, and your account will be terminated with extreme prejudice, so only speak truth to power if you are prepared to pay the price. I wasn't, I had a wonderful community at Facebook. Now that has been taken away, and it would be irresponsible of me to not share what I know.
