So if I knew this then, why would people be surprised for it to start happening now?

http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/climate-change/shock-as-retreat-of-arctic-sea-ice-releases-deadly-greenhouse-gas-6276134.html

Dramatic and unprecedented plumes of methane – a greenhouse gas 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide – have been seen bubbling to the surface of the Arctic Ocean by scientists undertaking an extensive survey of the region.

The scale and volume of the methane release has astonished the head of the Russian research team who has been surveying the seabed of the East Siberian Arctic Shelf off northern Russia for nearly 20 years.

In an exclusive interview with The Independent, Igor Semiletov, of the Far Eastern branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that he has never before witnessed the scale and force of the methane being released from beneath the Arctic seabed.

I hope I was wrong when I said this next:

However, it looks pretty bleak. Despite our incredible forebrains, as a species we show no more intelligence than bacteria, consuming everything until nothing is left and we expire in our own waste.

I stopped talking politics on this list because I got tired of being treated like a freak for being informed, being called a conspiracy theorist because when they were passing out the Kool-Aid I said "no thank you."

I'm still not going to talk politics on this list. Just thought you all might appreciate this timely update, and reminder to eat, drink and be merry, I'm sure going to!

[ItsAllAboutMeMan] Re: [midkar] An important message from the moderators of Midkar

A good topic. I have a few responses.

I personally have been put off posting on this list by statements that political and religious posts are not tolerated, but some members never miss an opportunity to post political and religious messages, yet when I remind people of the list rules, somebody (usually a moderator) always jumps down my throat saying I'M being political or religious. It's not worth the aggrivation, so I've sat it out for a long time, but maybe I'll make another attempt - folks, don't mistake your beliefs as universal truths just because all your friends think the same thing you do. There's a whole world out there, it's rewarding to learn a little bit about it.

It might get a little overwhelming if everybody commented on every midi, but there is a middle ground between that and the very rare comments of praise that people now deliver. I'll try to do better, I do appreciate the many excellent midis people supply.

I don't sequence, but I do listen. I have a short list of midis I've never been able to find anywhere, but I can only think of one now:  (Keep Feeling) Fascination by The Human League. Over the years I've come to believe it's really just sort of watered down Prince, but it is still a sentimental favorite of mine, one of my favorite New Wave songs of them all.

Merry Christmas, Kwanzaa, Eid al-Adha and Hanukkah, everyone!

Dear Midkar Members,

We are 710 strong at this point in time.  However strength does not lie only in numbers.  You have joined the Midkar family for various reasons.  Some of you make sequences and want to share your compositions with the group.  Others of you are collectors.  Some are both.  Many of you are also musicians and entertainers.

We are finding participation in Midkar to be more and more the same 15 to 20 members who are posting files (according to our guidelines). entering into discussions, and sharing some technical stuff, etc.  I'm sure that many of you enjoy the postings - feedback to our posters especially those who sequence would be much appreciated.

In order for our group to be more "alive" we would appreciate your input.  Those who are regulars posters need not respond as we already know your commitment to our group. Those of you who do not post, we ask you to please consider at least paying a compliment to our posters when you like something they have done.  If you have a request for a particular title, artist or genre of music, please make it known.  The moderators work hard to make the site available and keep it running.  It is up to you, our members to make it a roaring success.

Finally, if you have any ideas on how to make Midkar a better group, please let us know.

Bob S, Dan West, Jack Snead and Bob Eldridge (Bobeld), your moderators

[ItsAllAboutMeMan] Re: [americasmostbeautifulmusic] Christmas Greetings

I wish to also extend seasons greetings to people who observe Eid, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.

Sami Yusuf's Eid Song surely qualifies as among America's Most Beautiful Music:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2isAjT9BWjQ
