[ITSALLABOUTMEMAN] Re: For my father, killed by the police

Dear Erica Garner

I am sorry for your loss, but I have to tell you that Bernie Sanders will do as much as MoveOn's previous endorcements for president in solving this problem - that is to say, he will do little, or possibly make things worse.  You should do as I'm doing and vote for Jill Stein.

Read this intnerview, you will see that she is the kind of candidate you think Bernie is - and that Bernie is the kind of candidate that I think he is:

People are dying—and Bernie Sanders is the only candidate talking honestly and openly about ending our epidemic of mass incarceration and police killings.

Dear MoveOn member,

My father was Eric Garner. He was murdered by the police in New York City in 2014. His killer was never indicted for the crime. My father's last words were, "I can't breathe," as a police officer choked him to death, on video.

I want you to know that my father was loved dearly—by me, by my daughter, Alyssa, who misses her Pop-Pop, and by his whole family.

My father was taken too early—by a corrupted criminal justice system. It's a system that, honestly, has always targeted Black people but that's grown so far out of control thanks, in large part, to the crime policies of the 1990s. Today, I'm confident that there's only one presidential candidate who is both prepared to and serious about taking on that corrupt system.

That's why I endorsed Senator Bernie Sanders—and made this video explaining my decision. I hope you'll watch it—it's a video that I had complete control over, and one that I put my heart into.

Erica Garner, activist and daughter of the late Eric Garner, explains why she's endorsing Sentor Bernie Sanders for president.

Some days, I feel like a representative for people throughout this whole nation who've watched their fathers—or their brothers or their sisters or their mothers—gunned down or beaten down by the police and the entire crooked system.

I'm behind anyone who's going to listen and speak up for us, and I think we need to believe in a leader like Bernie Sanders.

There's no other person who's speaking about this. Bernie Sanders talks honestly and openly about ending our epidemic of mass incarceration and police killings. People are dying. I'm never gonna forget and I don't want the world to forget about my father, or the countless other lives that have been taken. This is real.

I believe Bernie Sanders is a protestor—he's not scared to go up against the criminal justice system. He's taken on other systems—from the military-industrial complex to Wall Street—his entire career. He knows you can't fix a corrupt system with bandaids.

He's not scared to stand up for us—and to fight for a full solution. That's why I'm for Bernie Sanders. I hope you'll watch my video and pass it along to people you know.

Thank you.

Erica Garner
