I keep catching Democracy Now! making mistakes. I called this to their attention, again, using their webform:  "When one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it," wrote Joseph Goebbels, Germany's Reich minister of propaganda, in 1941. Former Vice President Dick Cheney seems to have taken the famous Nazi's advice in his new book, "In My Time."

Actually, what Goebbels said was this:  "The essential English leadership secret does not depend on particular intelligence. Rather, it depends on a remarkably stupid thick-headedness. The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous." 

Neither Hitler or Goebbels advocated the use of the Big Lie, they charged that their opponents used it.  Which, ironically enough, is what you have just done. You really need to get some better fact checkers.  And allow people to post comments on your webpage, so that corrections can be made by listeners as mistakes are made.

I felt I had to respond:

"Why is it that every Brazilian I meet things that Brahma owns Anheuser-Busch? In fact, both the Brazilian Brahma and the American Anheuser-Busch are owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev, a Belgium based company. It is the largest global brewer with nearly 25% global market share. Like all these mega-companies, they brew a mediocre product, and Brahma (as outstanding as their ads are) is no exception. It's true as the American empire is falling apart, countries like Brazil are eating our lunch.

But it's not true you are drinking our beer, at least not our good beer. We have learned how to drown our sorrows over our crumbling empire, infrastructure, and lives, in some of the finest beer known to mankind. We have some astonishing microbrews, and I think American-style brewpubs would be a smashing success, and I'd love to combine my love of American microbrews, and my love for Brazil, possibly the greatest country on earth, in one business enterprise. Let's talk bidness!"

Dear Mr. Ruben

Sorry, I cannot support David Weprin, because it appears to me he is a creature of Wall Street (positions at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette; Kidder Peabody; Paine Webber,Inc. and Advest, Inc.), and he thinks Obama's cruel stance towards the Palestinians is too fair to them: http://blog.timesunion.com/capitol/archives/74828/david-weprin-calls-obama%E2%80%99s-israel-policy-%E2%80%98outrageous%E2%80%99/

What is this Contract on the American Dream, anyway? Why is it linked into something called, "ActBlue" and not, "ActGreen" for example?  Is it just another democratic party trojan horse?  and is that what moveon is, too?  I am absolutely sick of the lies and the con that the dems are perpetrating, and I won't have any part of it.

Please answer my questions once and for all, or take me off your mailing list.
