Here's why this idea is on the table: This moment was made for Elizabeth Warren. We're at a crossroads in American history, with inequality soaring to levels not seen since the 1920s and an economic playing field rigged to favor Wall Street and corporate interests. Inequality, and the corrupting political power of big money, threatens to undermine every issue we hold dear—from climate change to racial justice, from student debt to the fate of Social Security.
And in the midst of all that, we hear the voice of Elizabeth Warren—rallying the nation with her transformative vision of giving everyone a fighting chance.
After listening closely to MoveOn members for the last several months, we've come to believe that Warren's powerful voice is needed right now on the nation's biggest stage—the 2016 race for president.
Warren's not in the race yet. But there's a precedent here: She was inspired to run for Senate in 2012 by a people-powered "Draft Warren" campaign. This fall, when asked by People magazine whether she might be on board for a run at the presidency, she answered, "If there's any lesson I've learned in the last five years, it's don't be so sure about what lies ahead. There are amazing doors that could open."1
It's up to us to help open that door. If we join our voices together, if we show her a groundswell of support, if our millions-strong community can make clear to Warren that if she runs, she'll have the grassroots army she needs to not only win a primary, to not only win the White House, but to create real change for middle-class Americans who urgently need help—then we believe she can be persuaded to run.
We think she can win. And even if she doesn't, we believe that a contested primary is best for everyone—for the eventual nominee, for the progressive movement, and for the country.
MoveOn is its members. This decision rests in your hands. As we have with all of our biggest decisions, we're putting this question to a vote.

Yes, MoveOn should encourage Sen. Elizabeth Warren to run for president.
If MoveOn members do vote to move forward, we'll go to bat to demonstrate to Senator Warren that if she runs, we'll be right there with her. We'll show her that Americans are hungry for a leader who is unafraid to stand up to the megabanks and corporate interests, and who will never stop fighting for families on the ragged edge of the middle class.
Our campaign would be called "Run Warren Run," and it would be 100% positive: lifting up the case for a Warren candidacy, not pulling anyone down.
Above all, it would be based on the belief that we need all our best candidates in the race. The 2008 primary ensured that President Obama was battle-tested by the time he reached the general election. And if it weren't for Hillary Clinton and John Edwards calling for health care reform in the primary, we may never have gotten the Affordable Care Act that millions of Americans rely on today. A contested primary means that progressives have a voice, the best ideas get an airing, and the eventual nominee is ready to face the best (or worst) that the Republicans and the Koch brothers have to offer.
That's what we've heard from countless MoveOn members. And it's why MoveOn's staff believes it's so important for Elizabeth Warren to enter the race. But now it's up to you.

Are there any actual journalists left at NPR? Do the employees silently suffer, or are they happy to dish out the official story? Do they fear McCain's cloud? Do they think he might be their boss some day? Real journalists would surely be upset that they were scooped by a foreign propaganda outfit on a story like this - but propagandists would just shrug and say "That's got nothign to do with us. Our job is to try to make Putin and Kim Jong Un look bad." I'm very curious to know which it is.

other countries have a completely independent world that's called Hollywood," Boy, talk about evidence of a colonized mind, here it is. She says all this without a trace of irony. Never noticing how our government, citizenry, propaganda and entertainment media all march in lockstep in mocking and demonizing the same select targets. The US may never mount an invasion of North Korea, but it's all set up for one. You know who the next intended victim of the US will be - they show up in the National Enquirer in a dress in a photoshopped picture. Noriega, Saddam, Gaddafi, it's so predictable, but like Charlie Brown and the football, the public lines up for it again and again, and NPR is the National Enquirer of the 'people who like to think they are thinking people' class. Here in the US where we have an independent world of art and entertainment, of course, they produce slapstick comedies about assassinating American politicians, because they are so independent and stuff. Grow up, people! Wouldn't it be great if people in think tanks actually tried thinking for a change?

To be fair then Congress should hear testimony from surviving family members of the 15,000+ 2012 deaths worldwide at the hands of Islamist fundamentalists, mostly AQ and Taliban.

Nothing has been done about this yet.
I've started to become a little impatient, and I have discussed this
on my blog, and have mentioned it to one Facebook friend who is an
Occupy Wall Street supporter. I have 43 other friends who are also
supporters on Facebook. Am I going to have to try to enlist them to
try to get your moderators to correct their error?
Why do you praise your adversaries, (Obama, for example) and censor
your friends? This is not a program for success.
Please look into this and do something about it.

On election night, Nation editor and publisher Katrina vanden Heuvel challenged President Obama to "draw the line in the sand this week. "As soon as the results were clear, she posted this piece: "The Democrats Lost Big Tonight. Why Obama Should Double Down." "The Obama administration should act right away to use its executive powers to take steps to deal with long-ignored issues that need to be dealt with for the good of the nation."
While mainstream media coverage was buying into GOP talking points and writing the president off as a lame duck, The Nation offered up an independent dose of reality. "Sixth-year setbacks are common for presidents. And Obama need not let this one define him."
"President Obama should embrace good progressive public policy while expecting—indeed, hoping for—a massive outcry from the wing-nut section of the GOP," vanden Heuvel wrote.
Among her prescriptions were to "act big—and act fast": start with serious immigration reform; go up to the edge of normalizing relations with Cuba; cancel the Keystone XL pipeline; nominate a diverse set of progressives to fill every judicial vacancy at every level; nominate Tom Harkin to the Federal Reserve Board; and embrace a good jobs initiative.
"Pick a fight with Rick Perry and/or Jan Brewer, if need be, and be glad that you're in a high-profile fight with them. Let the right wing come unglued—which they will!—and don't back down when Steve King and Louie Gohmert and Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin start calling for impeachment."

President Obama must take executive action. Dear Matt,
In the wake of Tuesday's electoral defeat, what happens now is going to depend a lot on what President Obama is willing to stand up and fight for.
That's not a comforting thought. But it's also up to us and how far we're willing to go to pressure the president to do the right and necessary thing.
In his press conference on Wednesday, president Obama towed the line between a willingness to push forward with progressive priorities if congress was unwilling to take action, and offers to look for so-called middle ground with the extremist Republicans who will control the Senate.
We don't know how far he's willing to push - or what he's willing to give up. But we know that the landscape in Washington DC just got worse. Much worse. It's up to us to quickly pivot to the key fights we know are coming as a result of Republican control of the Senate. And to push President Obama to do everything in his power to break through the coming Republican blockade.
Here are 10 things President Obama needs to do immediately -- and 10 things that aren't likely to happen if we don't make him do it.
- No deals on cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
- Strengthen the power plant carbon rule to make it your boldest action yet on climate.
- Immediately suspend deportations of millions of aspiring Americans until comprehensive immigration reform can be passed.
- Don't commit ground troops to Afghanistan, Iraq or Syria.
- Reject Keystone XL, and apply the climate test to all federal decision making.
- Save the Internet by making Net Neutrality the law of the land.
- Empower your Federal Election Commission to enforce election laws and limit money in politics.
- Fill all federal judicial vacancies before the end of this Congress.
- Fight back against the Republican war on women with NO compromises.
- Use federal powers to end abusive, militarized and biased policing targeting African Americans and Latinos.
It's worth noting that progressive base turnout was down in this election in part because President Obama has been far too reluctant to use his executive power to deliver victories on key progressive issues from climate to immigration to economic justice.
To make matters worse, the Republicans now in control of the Senate and House will do everything in their power to advance their Tea Party agenda – including what Democrats refused to do, like getting rid of the filibuster for legislation, using reconciliation to pass bills with only 51 votes, and continuing to refuse to compromise in the face of Democrats all too willing to cave preemptively.
President Obama can no longer credibly suggest that there is a bipartisan path to progress – though his advisors may urge him to do just that. He needs to take executive action. He must refuse to cave to Republicans. He cannot waste time negotiating with bad faith partners who have no intention of compromising ever.

Dear MoveOn member,
I don't need to tell you that this election is a toss-up, that time is short, or that control of the Senate is at stake—and what a disaster it would be if Republicans took the majority.
You already know all this. After all, you're reading this email.
You might be thinking, "You're preaching to the choir."
You're right: You—as a MoveOn member reading this email—are among the most passionate progressives in the country. I'm not worried whether you'll turn out.
I'm worried about the millions of Obama Democrats who don't plan to vote on November 4—voters who elected the president in 2008 and 2012 but sat out in 2010, when the Tea Party swept into power. They may decide control of the Senate—and we need your help getting them to the polls.
If we can get these "drop-off" voters to the polls, we can win. In the key states that will determine control of the Senate, a few thousand votes—a few thousand people—will make the difference. Polls have been swinging back and forth in Iowa, Colorado, North Carolina, and other close races. In the end, it all comes down to turnout.
I can't reach all those Democratic voters with this email, nor convince them to come out and vote. But MoveOn members can mobilize them with our Voters Rising campaign.
And that's where you come in. This campaign is ambitious and effective—through a combination of technology and targeting, MoveOn members are making calls six times as effective as the calls we made in 2012. And we know that person-to-person contact is the only way to cut through the campaign noise and overcome the Republican Money Machine.
The program is in place. Now, we just need to make the calls. Will you join the all-hands-on-deck effort to get out the progressive vote? The best way to do it is together with other MoveOn members at a call party near you.
You know, there's a reason why preachers preach to the choir every week: Because it works.
So, yes, I'm preaching to the choir—for the same reasons preachers do: We want to hear that choir sing.If you're ready, it's time to sing out!
