I've finally achieved consistency in my life. Any person of average or above intelligence can predict what I will say next with unerring accuracy. And what I say will always be wrong.

[ItsAllAboutMeMan] Fwd: [wood-l] Digest Number 1902

Man, I'll bet you guys (the ones that remember me) thought I was nuts
when I kept ranting about how Jews invented comic books. Nobody here
wanted to talk about it, it was like the subject has cooties or
something - now EVERYBODY is talking about it - for example, see
below, DANNY FINGEROTH (Disguised as Clark Kent: Jews, Comics, and the
Creation of the Superhero) but also Men of Tomorrow: Geeks, Gangsters,
and the Birth of the Comic Book by Gerard Jones, From Krakow to
Krypton: Jews and Comic Books by Arie Kaplan, Up, Up, and Oy Vey!: How
Jewish History, Culture by Simcha Weinstein, and on and on.

The trouble with being ahead of ahead of the crowd is you're always
alone. hope that I am also ahead of the crowd in my near total
rejection of comic books, now that the mainstream has embraced them.
I'm sick to death of hearing retarded cops, politicians and soldiers
talking about "good guys" and "bad guys". I want to take people by the
lapels and bitch slap them, explaining to them that, no, we are not in
a comic book people, this is the real world.

The more subtle the comic book tropes become, the more insidious I
find the propaganda (as with the various permutations of Star Trek,
each more sophisticated in it's apologetics for empire than the
previous, apparently until the last one, which I gather was blunt and
dire). That said, I do like the geopolitical information contained in
The Dark Knight though. Heath Ledger captured George W. Bush in a way
that Oliver Stone could only dream of. And Obama as Two-Face was
well-done, too.

A more nuanced analysis (even appreciation) of Frederick Wortham is
emerging too - I've been espousing that since 1977, when I pursued the
exotic notion of reading a couple of his books.
