It was wonderful to hear from you again, and I'm so very happy to know that my extremely advanced age and my diminuative stature isn't a deterrant for you to our ongoing relationship. I found your life story very interesting, and so I will tell you mine as well.
I had an uneventful childhood growing up in Wenatchee, Washington. It was a fairly normal, usually happy life, though my brother was a sadistic sociopath, and I was easy pray due to being so very small as a child. My mother would put me sobbing into a shoe box every evening... she had a great deal of love for me, but somehow felt powerless to end my torment.
However, everything changed when I discovered rock and roll, it was a liberating experience. I had many fascinating gigs and sexual encounters, and for the first time in my life, my weirdly puny size wasn't a handicap. I spent some time in an all midget KISS cover band (www.minikiss.com/) and for a time I was making good money as a Prince impersonator.
More recently, I've been working on the management side of the music business. I'm managing a band called The Icehole Sailors - perhaps you've heard of them, they have a global reputation. Management can be just as challenging as playing music... a million and one things to deal with. These guys are brilliant musicians, but hopeless as organizers, so I have to go on the road with them. Our latest tour took us to a series of Irish Pub franchises, O'Blerg's Pubs (tm) scattered along route of the ancient silk road in Asia.
They had to learn a bunch of Irish tunes in a hurry for this tour, but I think they did a fine job. They were very well received, but honestly, I don't think people in rural China and the various Stans would know much about authentic Irish music, anyway.
It turns out being short was useful for this tour, too... I could comfortably stand on the dashboard of the tour bus (which we dubbed Bismillah, King of the Desert) and help the driver scan the road for those axil breaking potholes the region is famous for.
I've attached some pictures from this tour that I thought might interest you, and here is a short explanation of what is in these photographs.
P1070967 and P1070970 - these are pictures of the rare asian grey rhino. You can see that they are in a child's playground. This picture was taken at a orphanage right next to a shoilin accademy. The rhinos were allowed to mingle freely with the children, who benefited greatly from the experience; they were all very quick, and exceedingly nimble. The shoilin priests selected the most able students from among the bunch to be new initiates,and they always eventually proved to be the very best Kung Fu masters.
