I believe that the Lancet mortality figures are correct, and far more
than 40,000 Iraqi children are now orphans because of the neocon war
on Iraq.
I do not know why this author felt that everybody used to feel pirde
to be part of the US imperial system. It is a myth that there is a
historical US empire that was "a truly compassionate nation that
served "as a beacon of light for justice and humanity." The author
seems to confuse "fear" with "respect."
While we are making our apologies, we ought to apologize to the world
for Bill Clinton (and every other US president) as well
In May 1996 Madeleine Albright, who was then the U.S. ambassador to
the UN, was asked by 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl, in
reference to years of U.S.-led economic sanctions against Iraq, "We
have heard that half a million children have died. I mean, that is
more children than died in Hiroshima [The mass murderer Harry Truman
is much admired these days, I suppose Americans think he's another US
president admired and respected around the world]. And, you know, is
the price worth it?"
To which Ambassador Albright responded, "I think that is a very hard
choice, but the price, we think, the price is worth it."
Albright later served as Clinton's secretary of state.
And we ought to do everything we can to prevent Bill Clinton's
significantly meaner and more calculating partner from becoming
president.

George Bush is the perpetual child, 'left behind' to connive and plot and arm himself with like-minded people, you know, those that have the same lack of morals and common decency that he does. That way he has lots of help when doing the hard work of trashing our country's Constitution. He was spoiled rotten by parents whose only real goal was money and power and so learned by example what was important.

You see, many of them have to be shipped back in coffins draped with the flag that your son spits on every day. He is a merciless warmonger that has devastated both our own country and Iraq.
