The first step in protecting homeland security is to impeach the criminals that are destroying homeland security through their wrong and illegal and unethical acts, including the creation of the bogus Homeland (In)security Act.

This is the Truth!!

To: matt.mattlove1@gmail.com

American Nightmare:  Gonzales "wrong and illegal and unethical"

by Greg Palast

Tuesday, August 28.

"What I've experienced in the last six months is the ugly side of the American dream."

Last month, David Iglesias and I were looking out at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island where his dad had entered the US from Panama decades ago.  It was a hard moment for the military lawyer who, immediately after Attorney General Alberto Gonzales fired Iglesias as US Attorney for New Mexico, returned to active military duty as a Naval Reserve JAG.

Captain Iglesias, cool and circumspect, added something I didn't expect:

"They misjudged my character, I mean they really thought I was just going to roll over and give them what they wanted and when I didn't, that I'd go away quietly but I just couldn't do that. You know US Attorneys and the Justice Department have a history of not taking into consideration partisan politics. That should not be a factor. And what they tried to do is just wrong and illegal and unethical."

When a federal prosecutor says something is illegal, it's not just small talk.  And the illegality wasn't small.  It's called, "obstruction of justice," and it's a felony crime.

Specifically, Attorney General Gonzales, Iglesias told me, wanted him to bring what the prosecutor called "bogus voter fraud" cases.  In effect, US Attorney Iglesias was under pressure from the boss to charge citizens with crimes they didn't commit.  Saddam did that.  Stalin did that.  But Iglesias would NOT do that - even at the behest of the Attorney General.  Today, Captain Iglesias, reached by phone, told me, "I'm not going to file any bogus prosecutions."

But it wasn't just Gonzales whose acts were "unethical, wrong and illegal."

It was Gonzales' boss.

Iglesias says, "The evidence shows right now, is that [Republican Senator Pete] Domenici complained directly to President Bush. And that Bush then called Alberto Gonzales, the Attorney General, and complained about my alleged lack of vigorous enforcement of voter fraud laws."

In other words, it went to the top.  The Decider had decided to punish a prosecutor who wouldn't prosecute innocents.

All day long I've heard Democrats dance with glee that they now have the scalp of Alberto Gonzales.  They nailed the puppet.  But what about the puppeteer?

The question that remains is the same that Watergate prosecutors asked of Richard Nixon, "What did the President know and when did he know it?"

Or, to update it for Dubya, "What did the President know and how many times did Karl Rove have to explain it to him?"

During the Watergate hearings, Nixon tried to obstruct the investigation into his obstruction of justice by offering up the heads of his Attorney General and other officials.  Then, Congress refused to swallow the Nixon bait.  The only resignation that counted was the one by the capo di capi of the criminal-political cabal:  Nixon's.  The President's.

But in this case, even the exit of the Decider-in-Chief would not be the end of it.  Because this isn't about finagling with the power of prosecutors, it's about the 2008 election.

"This voter fraud thing is the bogey man," says Iglesias.

In New Mexico, the 2004 announcement of Iglesias' pending prosecution of voters (which he ultimately refused to do) put the chill on the turnout of Hispanic citizens already harassed by officialdom.  The bogus "vote fraud" hysteria helped sell New Mexico's legislature on the Republican plan to require citizenship IDs to vote - all to stop "fraudulent" voters that simply don't exist.

The voter witch-hunt worked.  "Wrong" or "insufficient" ID was used to knock out the civil rights of over a quarter million voters in 2004.  In New Mexico, that was enough to swing the state George Bush by a mere 5,900 votes.

So what is most frightening is not the resignation of Alberto Gonzales, the Pinocchio of prosecutorial misconduct, but the resignation of Karl Rove.  Because New Mexico 2004 was just the testing ground for the roll-out of the "ID" attack planned for 2008.

And Rove who three decades ago cut his political fangs as chief of the Nixon Youth, is ready to roll.  To say Rove left his White House job under a cloud is nonsense.  He just went into free-agent status, an electoral hitman ready to jump on the next GOP nominee's black-ops squad.  The fact that Rove's venomous assistant, Tim Griffin, was set up to work for the campaign Fred Thompson, is a sign that the Lord Voldemort of vote suppression is preparing to practice his Dark Arts in '08.

It was Rove who convinced Bush to fire upright prosecutors and replace them with Rove-bots ready to strike out at fraudulent (i.e. Democratic) voters.

Iglesias, however, remains the optimist.  "I'm hopeful that I'll get back to the American dream.  And get out of the American nightmare."

Dreams.  Nightmares.  I have a better idea for America:  Wake up.

Newt Gingrich… Now there's a name from the past.  I guess you can
never write anybody off… like Nixon and Hitler and Nepolean, he's
baaaaaaaaaaaack!

Let's not forget who and what he is:

... yet another war-hawk who avoided service in Vietnam (the Defence ...

… fair haired boy of his ideological boss, the Prince of Darkness and
accused Israeli spy, Richard Perle

… serial philanderer (Gingrich is now on his third marriage, having
served his first wife with divorce papers at her  hospital bed as she
recovered from cancer surgery in 1981, in order to marry his
then-mistress. He phoned his second wife on Mother's Day 1999 to
request a divorce, in order to marry his next mistress.)

…. Apologist for torture (when applied by Americans to others)

… corrupt bribe taker…

On and on… but this dodgy personal history hasn't stopped him giving
weird prescriptions for saving America from the foreign demons lurking
in the pongy passages of his fevered mind.  Nor does it seem to stop
people from embracing said prescriptions.  A great pity

Even Reaganites have turned against the current Messianic war:

August 24, 2007
A Hegemonic Hubris
More War on the Horizon

By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS

No pullout from Iraq while I'm president, declares George W. Bush.

On to Iran, declares Vice President Cheney.

Israel is a "peace-seeking state" that needs $30 billion of US
taxpayers' money for war, declares State Department official Nicholas
Burns.

The Democratic Congress, if not fully behind the Iraqi war, at least
no longer is in the way of it.

Nor are the Democrats in the way of the Bush regime's build up for
initiating war with Iran.

The Bush regime says it is going to designate part of Iran's military
-- the Revolutionary Guards -- a terrorist organization, whose bases
and facilities Bush intends to bomb along with Iran's nuclear energy
sites. Three US aircraft carrier strike forces are deployed off Iran.
B-2 Stealth bombers are being fitted to carry 30,000 pound
"bunker-buster" bombs to use against hardened sites. Politicized US
generals assert that Iran is providing arms and aid to the Iraqi
resistance to the US occupation. The media are feeding the US
population the same propaganda about nonexistent Iranian weapons of
mass destruction that they fed us about nonexistent Iraqi weapons of
mass destruction. A former CIA Middle East field officer, Robert Baer,
has written in Time magazine that the Bush regime has decided to
attack the Revolutionary Guards within the next 6 months. Remember the
"cakewalk war"? Well, this time the neocons think that an attack on
the Revolutionary Guards will free Iran from Islamic influence and
cause Iranians to back the US against their own government.

Lies, unprovoked aggression, and delusional expectations -- the same
ingredients that produced the Iraq catastrophe -- all over again. The
entire Bush regime and both political parties are complicit, along
with the media and US allies.

According to Baer, the Bush regime has given no consideration to
whether Iran's response to a US attack might be different than to
welcome it as liberation. What if Iran really were to arm the Iraqi
resistance and/or to sink our aircraft carriers? How can any
government, even one as incompetent, delusional and unaccountable as
the Bush regime, initiate war without any thought to the consequences?

The Bush regime's planned war against Iran casts light on the large
increase in military armaments that the US is supplying to Israel.
With Iraq in chaos and civil war, an attack on Iran leaves as
opposition to Israel only Syria and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
Israel cannot finish off the Palestinians until Hezbollah is
destroyed. An Israeli attack on Syria while the US attacks Iran would
leave Hezbollah without supplies in the face of a new Israeli attack.

The agenda unfolding before our eyes may be the
neoconservative/Israeli/Cheney plan to rid the Middle East of any
check to Israeli territorial expansion.

Nicholas Burns said that the $30 billion in military aid was not
conditional on any Israeli concessions or progress toward resolving
the conflict with the Palestinians. Israel's ghettoizing and ethnic
cleansing of the Palestinian West Bank proceeds apace.

Meanwhile in America, while more money is poured into more war,
condemned bridges collapse killing Americans who trusted their
government to provide safe infrastructure. Devastated residents of New
Orleans remain unaided. Financial difficulties deepen for more
Americans as falling home prices and jobs lost to offshoring push more
Americans into desperate straits. The US dollar continues to fall as
the government's war debts build up abroad.

Except for the armaments industry, where is the gain to America in
Bush's wars? Before Bush invaded Afghanistan, the Taliban had stamped
out drug production. The US invasion has brought it back.

On August 22 Bush told the Veterans of Foreign Wars that US troops are
the "greatest force for human liberation the world has ever known."
Tell that to the 650,000 dead Iraqis and the 4 million displaced
Iraqis, and the tens of thousands of slaughtered Afghans, and the
coming civilian deaths in Iran. Tell that to all the bombed civilians
from Serbia to Africa who are blown to pieces in order that a US
president can make a point. Bush goes far beyond George Orwell's
"Newspeak" in his novel, 1984, when Bush equates US hegemony with
liberation.

America's hegemonic hubris is a sickness. A country that tolerates a
war criminal while he openly plans to attack yet another country is
definitely not a light unto the world.

Paul Craig Roberts was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the
Reagan administration. He was Associate Editor of the Wall Street
Journal editorial page and Contributing Editor of National Review. He

There is glurge, and then there is crap, and this is some of the crappiest crap that has ever circulated on the web.

Oliver North is a lying psychopath and a criminal.

His story was an outrageous lie, and history is clear on the subject - he never mentioned Osama bin Laden's name in his testimony, and
even to keep his own ass out of jail, he wouldn't have turned in Reagan's fair haired boy in Afganistan.

http://www.snopes.com/rumors/north.asp
The terrorist North mentioned in his testimony was Osama bin Laden, however.

To the extent that bin Laden was known to the western world in 1987, it was not as a "terrorist"

but as one of the U.S.-backed "freedom fighters" participating in the war against the Soviet
occupation Afghanistan.

Carter, and then Reagan gave Osama bin Laden a huge boost.  But as Reagan himself said, "Facts are stupid things."

On 9/2/07, President of United Stooges <arexar4@yahoo.com> wrote:

No doubt you have all seen this before but I was asked to send it on.

Do you Remember THIS????

Thought you might be interested in this forgotten bit of information........

It was 1987! At a lecture the other day they were playing an old news video of Lt.Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration.

There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree, but what he said was stunning!

He was being drilled by a senator; "Did you not recently spend close to $60,000 for a home security system?"

Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."

The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience,

"Isn't that just a little excessive?"

"No, sir," continued Ollie.

"No? And why not?" the senator asked.

"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir."

"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.

"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.

"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"

"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't.

A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued. Why are you so afraid of this man?" the senator asked

"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of", Ollie answered.

"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator.

"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth."

The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip.

By the way, that senator was Al Gore!

Also:

Terrorist pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986.

The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993,

Israel had to agree to release so-called "political prisoners."

However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands,

The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released.

Thus Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center .

This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified.
It was censored in the US from all later reports.

If you agree that the American public should be made aware of this fact, pass this on.

Subject: Best way to say Thanks: Send them a card or get them out of harm's way?
I read this on a Yahoo group.  I couldn't put it any better...

We hear it every day from the bumper-sticker patriots...

"Support the troops!"

But what does it mean? Give them a pat on the back and send them back for
yet ANOTHER useless tour of duty?

Tell them they are doing the right thing for us by protecting the
USA....when that was proven to be a lie?

Say nothing to upset them?

Or does it mean what Bush and his dwindling group are doing? Sending the
might of the USA to occupy a nation we conquered for no legitimate
reason...send them without top of the line protective equipment...send them
into 130 degree heat wearing 100 lbs of body armour every day because the
citizens hate us and will kill them otherwise....send them back again and
again....send them back with traumatic brain injury from the IED's (built
with the explosives we failed to guard when we arrived and as such taken by
the Iraqis to fight back with)....and give them inadequate medical care when
they come home broken wounded and crippled?

Does it mean we should send them off with a big 'HURRAH!' to fight
resistance forces that want them gone from their country?

Does it mean to drag out this occupation, for the benefit of Halliburten and
the US oil companies, and send them into harms way when there IS nothing to
protect us against?

OR does it mean to feed and cloth them while their presence creates an
actual enemy we didn't have before?

al Quada is now stronger then it was in 2000. We were told, when all other
excuses were proven to be lies, that we were bringing them Democracy and
Freedom....at the end of the barrel of a gun and against their will. That
isn't freedom or Democracy....it is tyranny.

When WE force it on an unwilling country that does not fight for their own
so called 'freedom', we are oppressors not liberators.

And BUSH is sacrificing our troops to do it.

Support the troops....it was meant to mean 'STFU about what is wrong with
this operation".

WE need to make it mean "END this hell we created in Iraq...END this killing
of Iraqi citizens fighting us to leave....END this insanity and BRING THEM
HOME.

and for all you so called christians....read what Christ said on the issue.

It is time we PROTECT the troops and the Iraqis.

--
If Impeachment was good enough for Clinton...
Impeachment is good enough for Bush.

Amend the Constitution.
Give the PEOPLE the option to vote for Impeachment by national vote.

Subject: Re: [Stoner-Times] Status Report on border fence

In July my wife and I spent two weeks in Europe. We visited four countries - Sweden, Denmark, Holland, and Germany, and, we didn't show our passports again until we were in the airport on the way back out.  Nobody was worried about us or tracked our movements.

In the States, you can't cross the border to or from harmless old Canada without an inquisition.

We crossed the strait between Denmark and Germany on a ferry that (in addition to three decks of cars and one for trucks) carried our train across!  They drove the train right onto the ferry, and drove it off the other side. As a guy who was involved in transportation for many years, I found it exhilarating and amazing. I've never seen anything like that.  Washington State DOT brags about their ferry system - it's a crude joke compared to what I saw.

I think there is still room for American innovation and ingenuity, but it's being crushed by our political leadership, and our own apathetic acceptance of the dismantling of everything that makes the US worthwhile.  It's time to get out of our hole where the only way we interact with the rest of the world is to bomb them, and learn a few things from parts of the world that have passed us by while we were busy patting ourselves on the back for being so wonderful.

The reason the European Union is working and the North American Union isn't, is because of the incredibly short-sighted fiscal policies of the 800-pound gorilla of the union.  The US economy is no longer based on long-term development, but rather on short-term speculation. It is not surprising that smaller economies like Canada and Mexico are drawn into the vortex, and swamped.

The answer isn't a fence on the border, it's social and economic justice, and it has to start where the criminals are active – in Washington DC

On 9/1/07, President of United Stooges <arexar4@yahoo.com > wrote:

A little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it was "too crowded."

"I can't go to Sunday School," she sobbed to the pastor as he walked by.

Seeing her shabby, unkempt appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found a place for her in the Sunday school class. The child was so happy that they found room for her, and she went to bed that night thinking of the children who have no place to worship Jesus.

Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of the poor tenement buildings. Her parents called for the kindhearted pastor who had befriended their daughter to handle the final arrangements.

As her poor little body was being moved, a worn and crumpled red purse was found whi ch seemed to have been rummaged from some trash dump.

Inside was found 57 cents and a note, scribbled in childish handwriting, which read: "This is to help build the little church bigger so more children can go to Sunday School."

For two years she had saved for this offering of love.

When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knew instantly what he would do. Carrying this note and the cracked, red pocketbook to the pulpit, he told the story of her unselfish love and devotion.

He challenged his deacons to get busy and raise enough money for the larger building.

But the story does not end there...

A newspaper learned of the story and published It. It was read by a wealthy realtor who offered them a parcel of land worth many thousands.

When told that the church could not pay so much, he offered to sell it to the little church for 57 cents.

Church members made large donations. Checks came from far and wide.
Within five years the little girl's gift had increased to $250,000.00--a huge sum for that time (near the turn of the century). Her unselfish love had paid large dividends.

When you are in the city of Philadelphia , look up Temple Baptist Church , with a seating capacity of 3,300. And be sure to visit TempleUniversity, where thousands of students are educated.

Have a look, too, at the Good Samaritan Hospital and at a Sunday School building which houses hundreds of beautiful children, built so that no child in the area will ever need to be left outside during Sunday school time.

In one of the rooms of this building may be seen the picture of the sweet face of the little girl whose 57 cents, so sacrificially saved, made such remarkable history. Alongside of it is a portrait of her kind pastor, Dr. Russell H. Conwell, author of the book, "Acres of Diamonds".

This is a true story, which goes to show WHAT GOD CAN DO WITH 57 CENTS.

Please send this back. (You'll see why.)
