Of course, what chance do the facts have in the popular mind when put up against charges that Gaddafi wears ladies underwear, or that he's an egomaniac who says crazy things? Sounds like what they say about Nader doesn't it? Sounds like the taunts of any grade school yard bully, but they find resonance in the immature and under-exercised of our fellow Americans.
If the death and destruction inside Libya isn't enough, Americans should find comments like this alarming:

"In effect, what we are witnessing here," points out Patrick Henningsten, "is the dawn of a New Cold War between the US-EURO powers and China. This new cold war will feature many of the same elements of the long and protracted US-USSR face-off we saw in the second half of the 20th century. It will take place off shore, in places like Africa, South America, Central Asia and through old flashpoints like Korea and the Middle East" It's a fool's game, the US (and Europe, if they link their destiny closely to ours, and they seem intent on doing this) have already lost this cold war, just as the Soviet Union had already lost the cold war at the beginning. We need a different way out of this mess - but our "leaders" won't take one.
Yes, Americans should be plenty alarmed by all this - but they won't hear it. Or if they do, they'll try to drown it out with shouts of "We're Number 1"!
