MoveOn Should Read Their E-mail

Petition by Matt Love

To be delivered to Anna Galland, MoveOn Minister of Propaganda

MoveOn doesn't represent the interests of anybody except wealthy neoliberals, and they exist to separate you from your money to give to people who want to hurt you.
There is currently 1 signature. We need 50 signatures!

Petition Background

I keep getting all this nonsense in the mail from MoveOn, and I write back and try to set them straight and explain why the stuff they send me is nonsense, but I just get autoreplies saying, "thank you for writing us, now go soak your head." a recent example of this, I got an email from Robert Reich, so I replied:

Dear Robert Reich,

No I am not excited, at least in the way you want me to be. Yes, we progressives have a problem, a big problem, and it's a Democratic problem. The problem is that astroturf organizations like MoveOn keep urging people to send them money and put all their time and energy into supporting the people that have caused all the problems in the first place.

Take the issue that you singled out, the TPP. That has been Obama's baby from the beginning. Do you take us for idiots? Maybe MoveOn really has millions of members like they claim, but I'm betting a lot of those people are people on their mailing list that are fed up, and have wised up. People like me.

Don't give us a warmed-over mildly domestically reformist, foreign policy hawkish conformist like Elizabeth Warren. Last go round I voted for Dr. Stein, and will again if I have the chance. When MoveOn starts supporting candidates like that, I will know they are part of the solution, not part of the problem.

And you, Professor Reich; which side are you on? I've attached one of your own helpful charts. This chart makes it painfully clear that the poor have suffered more and the rich have benefited more under Obama than any other president since WWII! All presidents after Carter have been Reaganite, but Reagan's great fan Obama has been the most, advancing Reagan's cruel agenda further than any other president.

Yet MoveOn has been pitching for this phony for the past several years. What a record of slime and betrayal of progressive goals.
*****
I want them to read it, and I want them to forward it to Robert Reich to read, but I know that will never happen as things are now. Help me to change this for the better.

Dear MoveOn member,

Hello. This is former Labor Secretary Robert Reich. I'm writing to ask for your help with a groundbreaking new project I'm starting with MoveOn.

I'm going to explain it to you in depth, but just to cut to the chase, I'm also going to ask for money. So before I launch into this whole explanation, here's the link to donate, just so you have it handy.

OK, here's the deal: After the last election, it became painfully clear that we progressives have a problem.

On issue after issue, the public is on our side. Raising the minimum wage. Cracking down on Wall Street. Ending corporate welfare.

And yet, every one of these issues is completely and utterly gridlocked in Washington.

Why? That's a big question, and I know people who have written entire books on it. But one part of the problem is clear: We're losing the message war.

You see, when Republicans pick a message, they hammer on it over and over and over. Obamacare. Benghazi. Solyndra. It doesn't matter what the facts are—conservative thinktanks, the right-wing media, and Republican politicians pick one story and stick to it until it sinks in.

Progressives don't have anything like that kind of media support or message consistency. And that's what we're setting out to change.

Getting excited yet? If so, here again is that link to donate.

The way it's going to work is that we're putting together the most powerful and important proposals to improve the lives of the bottom 90 percent. Proposals that will impact tens of millions of Americans—and are supported by conservative voters and progressives alike.

But instead of waiting for CNN or the network news stations to give our ideas the attention they deserve, we're teaming up with the online experts at MoveOn to bypass the mainstream media and get our message in front of millions of Americans directly.

We know this can work. Because just last week, we created a video sounding the alarm about the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a corporate-friendly trade deal that's been almost totally ignored by the corporate media.

In just a few days, the video was seen by THREE MILLION PEOPLE.

Do you know how much it costs to get millions of people to see a 60-second television ad? Our TPP video cost a fraction of that.

If we want to start making progress again on the big issues that matter, we need to change what we're doing. And I believe that together, with this plan, we can do it. Will you chip in $3 help us get this project off the ground?

Yes, I'll chip in today.

Thanks for all you do.

–Robert Reich

Robert Reich, Chancellor's Professor of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley and Senior Fellow at the Blum Center for Developing Economies, was Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration. Time Magazine named him one of the ten most effective cabinet secretaries of the twentieth century. He has written thirteen books, including the best sellers "Aftershock" and "The Work of Nations." His latest, "Beyond Outrage," is now out in paperback. He is also a founding editor of the American Prospect magazine and chairman of Common Cause. His new film, "Inequality for All," is now available on Netflix, iTunes, DVD, and On Demand.

Want to support our work? We're entirely funded by our 8 million members—no corporate contributions, no big checks from CEOs. And our tiny staff ensures that small contributions go a long way. Start a monthly donation here or chip in a one-time donation here.

[ITSALLABOUTMEMAN] Fwd: Matt Love, Action Required: New Threats Found Including Your: 845 E Cross St; 1 Person Viewed Your Private Info

Hey Garba

Can you tell me if it was Joe Ibrahim who hired you to kill me... He lives in Fredericksburg, VA, wrote about me: "He was a stupid gay fat ass!" and now I see he's stalking me (see below).  I'm a little alarmed because he now knows that I live on Anderson Island in Washington State. But maybe I should be worried more about that Robert, who is much closer.

Anyway, I don't fear death, in fact I welcome it, as I said before. My only concern is that I not be assassinated before the right date (May 8th).  I've ordered that tee-shirt I was telling you about, the one with Kurt Cobain's suicide note on it. When I'm shot wearing this, it will direct suspicion towards Courtney Love, and away from you.  Is it a perfect plan? No, and I think that's what I like about it.

Interested in hearing your opinion, I'm a little concerned I haven't heard from you in quite a while, I miss our friendly little chats.
