[ITSALLABOUTMEMAN] Re: corporations taking over our cities

Hey Roland

I get your emails because I gave money to a canvasser from your organization. Happy to stand up for working people.

However, I'm concerned that you are actually just one of those seemingly endless Democratic Party front organizations.

I think those astroturf groups are a dirty trick that rival's Nixon's.

Can you offer me assurance that I'm wrong about this?

Thank you,

Matt Love

Matt,

Corporations and wealthy CEOs have been getting handout after handout from Lansing. But apparently they're still not satisfied.

In a new ploy, corporate-backed lawmakers in the Capitol are considering House Bill 4052, a bill that would give wealthy corporations and special interests even more power in our communities.

Click here now to stop state lawmakers from giving our rights away to wealthy corporations.

What this law does is interfere with our local governments' ability to make sure laws meet the needs and values of their residents. The needs of people in urban areas aren't always the same as those in small towns, but HB 4052 would prevent local leaders from passing certain types of laws.

It shouldn't surprise you that what these corporate special interests want is to prevent communities from passing laws that make working people's lives better. Laws about paid sick days, prevailing wages and equal benefit protections would all be affected.

They want to make it harder for working people like you and me to support our families, all so they can get richer.

We have to stop this bill. Send a message now.

All of our politicians may not agree on every issue, but HB 4052 goes far beyond any ideological disagreement. This law will strip all of us in Michigan of our rights to try to make our communities stronger, and further empower the richest 1 percent of the state to ignore laws they don't like.

Our lawmakers should be looking for ways to strengthen Michigan's economy by making it work for everyone, not just their wealthy friends.

This law could move through Lansing fast. We don't have time to waste, so can you take action now?

We have to speak up for our rights.

In Solidarity,
