Now that royalty is out of fashion, celebrity is the way for trailer trash to become somebody.

Royalty was always just thugs and opportunists getting an edge on other people. The thugs and opportunists that have the genes that give them a peculiar genius to hang onto their ill gotten gains pass those genes and ill gotten gains onto their children.

Royalty isn't forever,l of course. According to Barbara Tuchman, 25% of the royal families turned over every century in the middle ages... royal families fell on hard times and had to sell their estates and titles to rising merchants (and criminals). The ones that persisted - Tudors and Windsors, for example - are the most amoral and ruthless of them all, so why should we expect good behavior out of them?

Is the Prescott/Walker/Bush crime family really any different? How about the Barrymore? That Drew, a distillation of generations of dysfunction and bad genes is a nasty piece of work.

Will Hayden Panetteire breed and will her progeny join the dynasty (like the Paltrows, Arquettes, Hudsons, et al?). Or will she simply die nasty?

Only time will tell. Thank God for another reason to keep on living!

Heroes beauty Hayden Panettiere shocked journalists at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday when she allegedly threatened to "kill" a reporter for publishing articles about her love life.

The 18-year-old star was attending the Los Angeles awards ceremony when she lashed out at a writer from the magazine US Weekly, reportedly over her split from boyfriend Stephen Colletti earlier this month.

The actress was so incensed at the speculation over her private life that she lost her temper and threated to kill the journalist, and had to be held back by her publicist, who warned her, "not on the red carpet."
