[ItsAllAboutMeMan] Re: Tuesday's Elections were a huge success: 2012 starts now

Hey thanks for the information, Rachel.

I think the real problem is not people who don't vote - who could blame them?  The problem is a lack of people to vote for.

As long as young voters (and old voters) have to chose between the right wing and the far right wing of the corporate party, what difference does it make if the don't vote, vote once, or vote a dozen times?

Please let me know what you're doing about that.

Sincerely,

Matt Love

Matt, Tuesday was a good day for the League. After months of tireless effort to register and educate voters, we succeeded in getting out the youth vote on a massive scale! It wasn't easy, and we could not have done it without your generous support.

2012 is just around the corner. Will you make a tax-deductible investment in our future?

  • In Maine, we educated 16,000 voters on Ranked Choice Voting prior to the first mayoral election in 88 years.
  • In Wisconsin, our Voter ID campaign enabled 2,000 young people (and counting) to get the IDs needed to vote in 2012.
  • In Texas, we helped keep Voter ID out of the election and debuted our Life-Long Voters campaign to train 25 young Houston leaders on grassroots organizing.
  • In Ohio, 1,900 young people pledged to vote in 2011.

The key to all of this? Teamwork (and an awkward victory dance or two). The numbers reflect the endless energy of our dedicated organizers and volunteers, who build effective campaigns on a shoestring budget. Our commitment to long-term organizing and innovative trainings enable us to build local movements that win, year after year.

Will you contribute $20, $50, or $100 to our inspiring young organizers?

We could not have done this alone. Our team of progressive supporters enable us to build power in local communities, from off-election years to presidential election years.

Join us in kicking off 2012 the right way.

Cheers,

Rachel Bishop

National Programs Director

P.S. Did I mention that it's tax-deductible?
