Foxy Brown Forced to Remain Behind Bars
Posted August 28, 2007 -- Rapper Foxy Brown must remain behind bars until her Sept. 7 court date, a judge ruled yesterday.
Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Laura Ward rejected a lawsuit Foxy filed against the New York City Corrections Department in which she alleged she had been unlawfully locked up. The diva, born Inga Marchand, claimed she had been "suffering greatly" since being jailed last week (Aug. 22) on probation violation charges.
"We're going to file an appeal," Ikiesha Al-Shabazz told The New York Daily News. Al-Shabazz's relation to Brown is unclear.
Brown, who is reportedly three months pregnant, was arrested Aug. 14 after she allegedly assaulted a 25-year-old neighbor with her Blackberry in Brooklyn. One day later, she was held in New Jersey for driving with a suspended license, driving with suspended registration and giving officers a fictitious name during a traffic stop.
Upon appearing in a Manhattan courtroom Aug. 22, Judge Melissa Jackson ordered Brown jailed for violating probation terms.
